Clocks go back one hour this weekend

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Residents of southern Alberta are being reminded that daylight savings time ends on Sunday, November 3rd at 2:00 am.

This means that the time will shift back one hour.

Most smart devices are programmed to automatically change their clocks, but many appliances and battery-operated devices will not.

While you are running around changing your clocks, Lethbridge Fire & Emergency Services says you should check your smoke alarms too.

“The expiry date should be reviewed annually and putting in fresh batteries is an important step to ensure smoke detectors are working properly. If your smoke detector is more than 10 years old, it will need to be replaced.”

So far this year, the fire department reports that there have been close to 30 house fires in the city.

“In most cases, no one was seriously hurt and this can be attributed to smoke alarms warning people to leave their homes.”
