WINNIPEG — After being shaved by the Ice 4-3 in a shoot-out Wednesday night in Winnipeg, the Hurricanes returned to the same arena and skated off with a 8-2 win Friday (Nov 1) night.

The Ice opened the scoring in the first but, Michal Teply didn’t get one past Bryan Thomson until 11:46, and from there, the Canes owned the game.

Hurricane Oliver Okuliar single handedly tied the game and added his tenth goal of the season at 15:45. Less than 30-seconds later, Justin Hall got an assist from Danila Palivko and Noah Boyko, to put the Canes ahead 2-1, is which where the score remained at the buzzer.

The Hurricanes produced a whirlwind of scoring in the next 20-minutes.

At 1:37, Okuliar added his second goal of the game on a power play, with the assist from Dylan Cozens and Calen Addison.

The Canes kept up the pressure and three minutes later, Dylan Cozens also took advantage of a power play, giving his team a 4-1 lead.

The return of scoring action didn’t come until just before the 16-minute mark, when Cole Muir buried the puck between the pipes and cut the Canes’ lead to two.

Less than a minute later, Alex Cotton laid up a point shot, leaving Okuliar to slip the puck in for a Hat Trick goal! Score: 5-2 for the Canes!

The Canes maintained control of the puck, as Chase Wheatcroft stepped up for his own single-handed goal, giving his team a 6-2 lead. However, the visitors weren’t finished.

With 15-seconds left in the frame, Alex Cotton also found the back of Winnipeg’s net and the buzzer sounded on a 7-2 score for the Hurricanes.

There was likely a pointed conversation in the Ice dressing room during the final intermission, as scoring was held to a single goal during the final frame. However, it was for the Canes’ D-Jay Jerome, and it came just two minutes before the end of the game, giving the Hurricanes an 8-2 win.

The entire game produced just three minor penalties and the Hurricanes outscored the Ice 24-17.

The game’s three Stars:

1) ‘Canes – Oliver Okuliar (3 goals, 1 assist)
2) ‘Canes – Dylan Cozens (1 goal, 3 assists)
3) ICE – Michal Teply (1 goal)
