Utilities Commission approves selling Fort Macleod’s electrical system to Fortis
FORT MACLEOD, AB – Fortis Alberta is officially taking over operations of the Town of Fort Macleod’s utility system.
Council approved the sale in February of 2018, but the town has been waiting on the thumbs up from the Alberta Utilities Commission before going ahead.
The company will be at the town’s council meeting on Tuesday, November 12th to present a cheque for $5,008,500.
Mayor Brent Feyter previously told LNN that Fortis Alberta will not only be paying to take over the system but will install new power poles and transformers, while making several other upgrades.
