Trial date set for man charged with breaking into Lethbridge businesses

LETHBRIDGE, AB – A 55-year-old Lethbridge man has pleaded not guilty to five counts of shopbreaking and theft, in relation to a series of incidents last spring.

Larry Brent Ovens appeared in Lethbridge Provincial Court Thursday morning, from the LCC where he remains in custody by consent.

Police say between May 16 and June 2, a series of break-ins occurred at several businesses including the Safeway Liquor Store, Highlands Pet Hospital, Mr. Lube South and West, and the Great Canadian Oil Change resulting in about $20,000 in losses.

A Voire Dire will take place over two days in January, while the trial is scheduled to take place April 24, 27, and 30, and May 1.
