LETHBRIDGE, AB – The wanted man Lethbridge Police publicly thanked for letting them know – on social media – that he was at a local restaurant October 30, has pleaded guilty to one count of pointing a firearm, and two counts of uttering death threats in connection with an incident at a Shoppers Drug Mart.

22-year-old David Guenther Krahn appeared in Lethbridge Provincial Court via CCTV from the Lethbridge Correctional Centre. His Defense lawyer, Scott Bradford, asked the court that a Pre-Sentence Report (PSR) be completed, with a psychological component.

According to the Crown, on Oct. 29, Krahn went to the Shoppers Drug Mart on Columbia Blvd. in west Lethbridge around 6:15 p.m. There, he tried to get a refund on an item, but wasn’t happy with the service he received. A customer at the store heard him say, “I’m going to come back and shoot you all up.”

The Crown says he then left the store, but came back 10 minutes later, pulled a black handgun out of his backpack, and pointed it at store staff. No shots were fired, and Lethbridge Police were called. Officers interviewed store clerks and witnesses, and seized video surveillance tape.

On Oct. 30, according to police, a man wanted in connection with the Shoppers Drug Mart incident was arrested in the bathroom of a local restaurant, after he posted his location on Facebook. The man in question didn’t understand why he was being charged with so many offenses and said that the gun used “wasn’t real.”

The gun, which turned out to be a BB gun, was found in the garbage can of the bathroom, while cartridges and pellets were also found in the man’s possession.

Krahn will be back in court Jan. 28, 2020 for sentencing.
