LETHBRIDGE, AB – A 41-year-old man has been charged following what was described as a high-risk incident late Tuesday night that escalated into Wednesday morning.

LPS said that on Nov. 12 they responded to a report that a male was breaching conditions of a no contact order stemming from a previous charge of criminal harassment.

Late Tuesday night, following further investigation, officers found the man at a residence along the 600 block of 4 Street South. The man refused to comply with police directions, slammed the door on police and barricaded himself inside the residence.

The Critical Incident Response Team was deployed and just before 5:00 a.m., the man exited the home and tried to run from officers on scene.

Police Service Dog Myke was deployed and caught the individual. As police searched the man, they found a knife. The 41-year-old was transported to hospital for treatment of non life-threatening dog bite injuries and was later released into police custody.leth

Kris Allyn Peterson has been charged with breach of an undertaking and resisting a peace officer. He is currently in custody awaiting a Judicial Interim Release hearing.
