Lethbridge Hurricanes fall 3-2 in game one of three-game road trip

VICTORIA, BC – It was a tough third period for the Lethbridge Hurricanes, who fought to try and overcome a 3-2 deficit against the Victoria Royals in game one of their three-game road trip.

It’s the only matchup between the two teams this season.

The ‘Canes were scoreless in the first two periods, while the Royals racked up all three of their goals quickly at 5:00, 15:38 and 16:53 of the first period.

The second period was scoreless, but marked by a 10:00 misconduct penalty near the end of the period at 18:51 for Calen Addison, who’s had points in the last 6 straight games. The Royal’s Jacob Herauf also received a 5:00 major penalty for kneeing and a game misconduct at the same time.

The Hurricanes came back hard in the third period, with two goals from Dylan Cozens. The first, on a power play at :57, and another just before the end of the game assisted by Dino Kambeitz and Ty Prefontaine at 19:15.

The ‘Canes overall had 40 shots on goal, compared with 26 for the Royals, and Right Winger D-Jay Jerome was named third star of the game.

The team will have one day to rest up before they take on the Vancouver Giants in Langley Sunday night. They’re now sitting at 13-6-0-3.
