Nov 17, 2019 | 8:07 PM

VANCOUVER — After a 3-2 loss in Victoria Friday evening, the Lethbridge Hurricanes crossed the Straight of Georgia for a match against the Vancouver Giants. It was a game that belonged to the Canes, from beginning to end.

An uneventful first period produced no goals, although the Hurricanes outshot the Giants 12-5, while Vancouver outpaced their guests with eight penalty minutes to two.

The action picked up in the second frame, with the Canes charting two goals in five minutes. At 3:06, Zack Stringer put his team on the scoreboard off an assist by Calen Addison. Three minutes later, Jett Jones single-handedly lobbed the puck through the opposition’s pipes, putting the Canes ahead 2-0.

At the 15-minute mark, Dino Kambeitz took an assist from Alex Thacker and Justin Hall to land his seventh goal of the season, taking the score to 3-0 for Lethbridge.

The period ended with the Canes leading 3-0 and outshooting the Giants 24-11.

It wouldn’t be a game without at least one goal Hurricane Oliver Okuliar and he didn’t disappoint. Five minutes into the third period, Okuliar took an assist from Justin Hall to score his seventeenth of the season and upping the score to 4-0.

While the Canes continued to lead in goals, the Giants racked up 24-minutes in penalties. At 9:26 Vancouver’s Alex Kannok Leipert earned a 10-Minute misconduct, which lead to a power play that Logan Barlage took advantage of, assisted by Calen Addison and Alex Cotton.

The score mid-way through the third was 5-0 for the Canes and they weren’t finished. With 17 seconds left in play, Noah Boyko found the back of the next for a final goal before the horn and the Canes took the game 6-0.

With the addition of two points, the Canes are 14-6-0-3 in the standings. The team’s next game in Wednesday (Nov 20) in Lethbridge, against Swift Current.
