LETHBRIDGE, AB – A trial scheduled to take place over the next three weeks is underway in Court of Queen’s Bench in Lethbridge for a man charged with unlawfully importing a controlled substance, and possession for the purpose of trafficking.

37-year-old Tejinderpal Singh Sandu was the driver of a commercial truck that was entering Canada from the U.S. at the Coutts Border Crossing in September, 2016.

According to Police, the truck was stopped at the border for inspection. It contained a variety of novelty items, including costumes – destined for market in Alberta.

However, inside the truck on pallets that were shrink wrapped, border officers found and seized 34 packages of cocaine, weighing about 40 kilograms.
