One person reported dead after drowning in Little Bow Provincial Park

VULCAN, AB – Vulcan RCMP, EMS, and the Lomond and Champion Fire Departments were called to an area in Little Bow Provincial Park on Sunday, November 24th around 1:00 pm.

According to RCMP, three men were ice fishing in the park southeast of Vulcan when two of them fell into the freezing water.

The third man was able to get one of them out with a rope but was unable to rescue the other.

The 59-year-old man from Calgary was eventually brought to shore by members of the fire department. EMS tried to resuscitate him but were unsuccessful.

He was taken to a local hospital and did not survive the incident.

RCMP are not investigating the matter as a criminal incident, and therefore, will not be providing any further information.
