Police issue warrants for two men charged in robbery

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Police are looking for two men wanted in connection with a robbery near Lethbridge’s Supervised Consumption Site.

LPS says that on Monday, Nov. 25 at around 6:24 a.m., a male contacted police to report that he had been robbed by two men on the north side of the SCS at 1016 1 Avenue South.

According to police, the victim was standing on the north side of the facility speaking with some friends when two other men approached him from behind. Police say both of the men punched the victim, who was also kicked to the ground,

One of the suspects stood over the victim and pulled a knife and the victim was told to empty his pockets and give whatever money or drugs he had on him or he would be stabbed.

LPS says that the victim emptied “non-valuables” from his pockets. This led to the suspects insisting he still had money and drugs on him, and they considered bringing him to another location before eventually leaving the area, walking eastbound.

Surveillance footage from the SCS showed the robbery, helping police identify the suspects. Police searched the nearby area, but the men were not found.

The victim did not suffer any injuries that required medical attention.

Warrants for robbery, possessing an offensive weapon and breaching the conditions of a recognizance have been issued for the arrest of 20-year-old Lethbridge man July Austin Red Crow.

A warrant has also been issued for the arrest of 30-year-old Melvin George North Peigan, of Lethbridge.

Anyone with information on their whereabouts is asked to contact police at 403-328-4444 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. Anonymous tips can also be submitted online at www.p3tips.com.
