LETHBRIDGE, AB – Police in Lethbridge are investigating the stabbing of a 16-year-old.

On Thursday, December 5 at around 11:40 p.m., LPS responded to a report of an assault in the alley along the 200 block of Mayor Magrath Drive North.

When they arrived, they found someone helping a young male who had been stabbed.

EMS brought the victim to Chinook Regional Hospital and he was later transferred to hospital in Calgary for further treatment of his serious injuries.

Police say the 16-year-old male remains in hospital in stable condition.

The investigation found that at about 11:30 p.m., a citizen heard a “commotion” in the alleyway and spotted a group of people running away from the scene. The citizen heard someone call for help and went outside to investigate. The citizen located the injured male and called 911.

Police later received video surveillance of what happened and after some more investigating, a person of interest was identified. LPS attended the subject’s home and found eight people inside.

They were all arrested, as well as three others who arrived at the home in a vehicle.

The investigation is on-going, and all subjects are in custody.

LPS said that preliminary evidence suggests the incident was not a random crime as some of the people involved are known to each other.
