LETHBRIDGE — Photos abound from Tuesday (Dec 10) night’s visit of the CP Holiday Train. It never fails to draw a crowd and hundreds of people showed up to see the festively decked-out train near London Drugs on the city’s north side. Many others were stationed in the river valley and on the top of the coulees to capture the train as it passed over the viaduct.

The big hit, besides the lights, were the performances by Country music entertainers, Terri Clark and Dallas Smith. If it was too cold for you to get out, we have video…

While everyone enjoys the lights and music, there is another important aspect of the Holiday Train.

The CP initiative helps raise awareness on the importance of food banks and is designed to collect donations in each city where it stops.

The Train has raised more than $15.8 million Canadian and has collected 4.5 million pounds of food since its first journey in 1999.

Here in Lethbridge, the Food Bank was the recipient of an $8000 dollar donation from CP Rail. As well, Tuesday night’s visit collected 1703 pounds of food and $1,170 in cash donations for the local food bank.

From Lethbridge, the train moved on to Fort Macleod, Pincher Creek and Coleman on December 11, before heading into British Columbia.
