Three wins in a row as Hurricanes shutout Hitmen 3-0

LETHBRIDGE –– The Hurricanes have just five games left before the end of the year, with three in a row against the Calgary Hitmen.

Saturday (Dec 14) night’s meeting began on a slow note and ended to the roar of cheers, for a once-in-a-blue-moon goal.

The first period produced three minor penalties and no goals, with the Hitmen edging the Canes 9-8 in shots-on-goals.

The second period was a repeat of the first – three minor penalties for roughing, slashing and interference – all for the Hitmen. There were no goals, while Calgary continued to lead in shots-on-goal, 21-18.

The final 20-minutes brought an up-tick in action.

The game-winning goal came at 3:53, as Dino Kambeitz netted a power play goal, assisted by Logan Barlage and Alex Thacker. At the period’s mid-way point, Logan Barlage logged his tenth goal of the season, with the help of Zack Stringer and D-Jay Jerome. The score was 2-0 for the Canes.

From outside the Canes’ net, goalie Carl Tetachuk pushed the puck to Alex Cotton, who slapped it from the Canes’ goal line all the way down the ice, to make an empty net goal.

The game ended at 3-0 for the Hurricanes.

The three stars went to Carl Tetachuk, Logan Barlage and the Calgary goalie Brayden Peters.

The Hurricanes are 20-9-0-5 in the standings and meet the Hitmen in the second of a three game set in Calgary Sunday afternoon.
