BARNWELL, AB – Emergency crews were on the move Tuesday morning.

The M.D. of Taber Regional Fire Service – Station 4 & 7 Taber/Barnwell reported three collisions involving four vehicles all happened in under an hour.

At 7:41 a.m., Stations 4 and 7 were called out to a report of a single vehicle rollover about 6.4 kilometres west of Barnwell on Highway 3.

Half an hour later and about 800 metres west of the scene of the first collision, two vehicles were involved in another collision. Two patients were transported to hospital with minor injuries, according to the Fire Service.

A few minutes later, a highway truck wound up in the ditch near the scene of the second incident, narrowly missing one of the vehicles involved in that collision, as well as Rescue 4-4, at the scene providing assistance. The Fire Service said the driver, a passenger and a firefighter helping with patient care were all in the vehicle at the time.

“A very near miss which may have resulted in additional injuries to the passengers of the car and one of our volunteer firefighters,” the Fire Service stated on Facebook.

Last night, crews responded to a vehicle rollover along Highway 3.

The Fire Service has reported blowing snow and warming conditions are creating slippery conditions. Motorists are advised to drive with caution as the roads remain slick over the next few days.

The Fire Service is also asking everyone to be on the lookout for emergency vehicles and slow down if they see one or notice a collision on the road.
