City of Lethbridge adjusts hours for the holidays

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The holiday season is upon us and with that, the City of Lethbridge is notifying residents of changes to their hours of operation this week.

LETHBRIDGE 311

The city’s phone help-line, Lethbridge 311’s office will be closed on Christmas Day, December 25 as well as December 26. Customer service specialists will return on Friday, December 27 at 8:00 a.m.

The Lethbridge 311 office will be closed Wednesday, January 1 and will reopen on Thursday, January 2 at 8:00 a.m.

City Hall and the Stafford Centre will be open for their regular operational hours on Tuesday, December 24 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

These facilities will be closed on December 25, December 26 and will reopen on Friday, December 27 at 8:00 a.m. City Hall and Stafford Centre will also be closed January 1, reopening on January 2 at 8:00 a.m.

LETHBRIDGE ANIMAL SHELTER

The Lethbridge Animal Shelter will close at 1:00 p.m. on December 24 and Tuesday, December 31.

The facility will be closed on December 25, 26 and on January 1. The office will reopen on December 27 at 9:00 a.m. and on January 2 at 9:00 a.m.

GARBAGE AND RECYCLING COLLECTION

Garbage and recycling collection that normally happen on Wednesday will take place on Saturday, December 28 and Saturday, January 4.

The city’s Waste & Recycling Centre will be closed on December 25 and on January 1. More information on the Waste & Recycling Centre can be found here.

POOLS AND COMMUNITY ARENAS

All local arenas will be closed on December 25 and January 1. On Thursday, December 26, all pools will be closed except for the Stan Siwik Pool and Nicholas Sheran Pool, which will be open from 1 to 4:00 p.m. for their Open Swim and 4 to 5:00 p.m. for Lane Swim.

The Cor Van Ray YMCA at ATB Centre’s schedule is as follows:

· Tuesday, December 24 – 5:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

· Wednesday, December 25 – CLOSED

· Tuesday, December 31 – 5:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

· Wednesday, January 1 – 1:10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The aquatics area closes 30 minutes earlier than posted times on holiday days. All other days not specifically mentioned above will operate on their regular hours of operation.

GALT MUSEUM & ARCHIVES

The Galt will be closed on December 25, 26 and January 1.

The Galt will be open during regular hours for the rest of December (except for the days mentioned above).

HELEN SCHULER NATURE CENTRE

The Helen Schuler Nature Centre will be open on extended hours from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday, December 27 through Friday, January 3. However, the Nature Centre will be closed on December 25, 26 and January 1.

Regular operating hours will be in effect for the remaining season, that’s 1 to 4:00 p.m. daily and closed on Mondays. To contact the Nature Centre, call (403) 320-3064.

LIBRARY

All branches of the Lethbridge Public Library will close early at 4:00 p.m. on December 24 and will be closed December 25 and December 26.

The libraries will also close early at 4:00 p.m. on December 31 and closed on January 1. Materials that are due can be returned using the book drops outside the buildings.

LETHBRIDGE TRANSIT and ACCESS-A-RIDE

Transit service in Lethbridge has been altered for the holiday season.

December 24:

· 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. with no service after 7:00 p.m. (Lethbridge Transit)

· 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. with priority given to those needing dialysis (ACCESS-A-Ride)

December 25:

· No service (Lethbridge Transit)

· 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. with early booking available to wheelchair clients. Service is subject to availability (ACCESS-A-Ride)

December 26:

· Sunday/Holiday Schedule – 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., no service after 7:00 p.m. (Lethbridge Transit)

· 6:45 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., with priority given to those needing dialysis (ACCESS-A-Ride)

December 31:

· 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. (Lethbridge Transit)

· 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m., with priority given to those needing dialysis (ACCESS-A-Ride)

January 1:

· Sunday/Holiday Schedule – 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., no service after 7:00 p.m. (Lethbridge Transit)

· No service (ACCESS-A-Ride)

In addition, from December 23 to January 5, Route 10 is not in service. Routes 12, 32 and 36 will run every 30 minutes instead of every 15 minutes. For more information, call Lethbridge 311.
