Father involved in Hinton Amber Alert charged

BRULE, AB – Cody Shane Armstrong, the 41-year-old father accused in relation to an Amber Alert last week, has been formally charged by RCMP.

It was in the early morning hours of Friday, Dec. 20 when RCMP issued the alert following the alleged abduction of 14-month-old Waylon Armstrong.

After the vehicle they were in was reported to have shown back up at a family home in Brule, Alta, RCMP cancelled the alert around 5 p.m. Waylon was found to be unharmed, and Cody was taken into custody without incident.

He now faces charges of choking while committing an assault, uttering threats, mischief under $5000, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Armstrong is set to appear in Hinton Provincial Court on Jan. 15, 2020.
