Lethbridge Police investigating “sudden death” of infant

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Police were called to Chinook Regional Hospital in the early morning hours of Tuesday, December 31st.

They were asked to investigate the death of a six-month-old boy.

According to the investigation, the child was placed on a bed earlier in the evening to sleep.

“After a period of time, the father checked on the child and found he was not breathing,” reads a media release from LPS.

The mother called 911 and CPR was performed on the baby by his parents until paramedics arrived.

The infant was taken to hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

LNN spoke to LPS, who informed us that they are required to launch an investigation any time a person dies in a home. This requires police to visit the home.

An investigation is ongoing and an autopsy was ordered by the Medical Examiner’s Office.

No further details will be released at this time.
