U of L Weekend Sports Preview: January 3-5 2020, Lethbridge College back in action next week

LETHBRIDGE, AB – While the Lethbridge College Kodiaks return to action next week, the U of L Pronghorns kick off the new decade this weekend, with the basketball and hockey teams in play.

Here’s a preview of what’s in store for University of Lethbridge teams.

BASKETBALL

The men’s basketball team is on home court tonight (Jan. 3) against the University of Regina at 8:00 p.m. They host the Cougars again tomorrow, January 4 at 7:00 p.m.

The U of L men’s basketball team currently sits 13th in the Canada West standings with a record of 3-7 and are hoping to snap a three-game losing streak.

The women’s team also hosts the University of Regina, although their games are a bit earlier. Tonight’s matchup is set for 6:00 p.m., while tomorrow’s game will go at 5:00 p.m.

The women’s club is in 8th place in the Canada West standings. The team sits at .500 with a record of 5-5, aiming to end a four-game losing streak.

HOCKEY

The men’s hockey team faces the University of Regina, but they’ll be on the road in Saskatchewan. Tonight, the Pronghorns play at 7:00 p.m. and tomorrow, it’s a 3:00 p.m. matinee.

The Pronghorns’ men’s club enters 2020 with a record of 5-10-1, putting them in 6th place in the Canada West standings. The top six teams make the playoffs.

The women’s hockey club is on home ice in Lethbridge. They host the University of Regina at 7:00 p.m. tonight and at 1:00 p.m. tomorrow afternoon (Jan. 4).

Like the men’s team, the women’s squad is in sixth place in the Canada West standings. The team has a record of 6-7-1-2 (wins, losses, overtime wins, overtime losses).
