LETHBRIDGE, AB – A 19-year-old man, charged in connection with an alleged robbery in Galt Gardens in early December, has pleaded not guilty to two of the charges against him.

Dre Kade Sweet Grass is facing charges of aggravated assault and robbery. He appeared via CCTV in Lethbridge Provincial Court Monday, Jan. 6. His trial will take place June 8, but he will be back in court Jan. 13, 2020 on several other charges.

Lethbridge Police say on Dec. 6, 2019, a 37-year-old man was attacked by three men in the park. He was allegedly beaten with a metal object and then bear sprayed. He was taken to Chinook Regional Hospital and treated for multiple cuts.

43-year-old Steven Gordon Quebec was located later the same morning riding what police said was a stolen bike in the 1400 blk of 2 Ave. N. He was arrested without incident.

Quebec was in court for a trial on an unrelated matter in mid-December and remains in custody.

Sweet Grass was found by Community Peace Officers in the downtown area Dec. 7 and arrested as he attempted to run away.

Police believe the men were known to one another, and the matter was drug related.
