$50,000 worth of drugs seized by LPS, suspect faces 52 charges

LETHBRIDGE, AB – A 23-year-old man from Calgary is facing 52 charges after being apprehended by Lethbridge Police Service (LPS).

Just before 1:00 am on Saturday, January 11th, police were called to the 600 block of 12 B Street North on reports that a man and a woman tried to break into two homes.

The pair were located a short distance later as they were allegedly trying the doors of St. Peters Church.

According to LPS, the woman was cooperative with police, but the man reportedly provided a false name.

“During a search incidental to arrest police seized drug paraphernalia and a large quantity of drugs including suspected fentanyl, carfentanil, methamphetamine, heroin and a variety of pills (all scheduled substances under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act).”

In addition, LPS says they confiscated multiple knives, a baton, bear spray, and a variety of stolen property.

Alexander Timothy Kulach, 23, of Calgary, faces 12 counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, seven counts of possession of stolen property, trafficking in property or proceeds of crime, carrying a concealed weapon, unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon, forcible entry, obstructing a peace officer, resisting a peace officer, and 27 counts of breach of a release order.

Kulach will remain in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on January 16th.

The woman was released without charges.
