U of L and Lethbridge College Weekend Sports Recap: January 10-12, 2020

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Lethbridge College Kodiaks returned to their respective courts this weekend, while the U of L Pronghorns hockey and basketball teams were in action.

LETHBRIDGE COLLEGE KODIAKS

The men’s volleyball team went 1-1 over the weekend. On Friday evening, January 10, they lost 3-0 to Red Deer College (25-22, 25-20, 25-18).

The Kodiaks turned things around on Saturday, though, redeeming themselves with a 3-0 sweep of RDC. They won the first set 25-23, the second 25-20 and the final and deciding set 25-15.

They’ll return home to face Olds College on Friday (Jan. 17) and Saturday (Jan. 18).

The women’s volleyball team saw their losing streak hit double digits. They’ve now lost 10 straight following two losses to Red Deer College.

On Friday, RDC picked up the 3-0 win (25-16, 25-17, 25-12). Saturday’s result was the same, a 3-0 win for RDC (25-15, 25-21, 25-19). They’ll face Olds College this Friday and Saturday (Jan. 17 and 18).

U OF L PRONGHORNS

The men’s basketball team’s losing streak was extended to three games on Saturday (Jan. 11).

They lost 86-74 to the University of Calgary Dinos. The ‘Horns are in Calgary this Thursday, January 16, up against Mount Royal University.

The women’s basketball team has now lost two in a row. They fell 73-67 to the University of Calgary Saturday evening. Like the men’s team, they’ll be in Calgary Thursday against Mount Royal University.

The women’s hockey team lost 3-1 against the University of Saskatchewan Friday before a 2-0 loss on Saturday. They face the University of Alberta Pandas this Friday (Jan. 17) and Saturday (Jan. 18).

The men’s team was unable to beat the U of Saskatchewan on Friday night, losing 5-2. Saturday was another loss, this time 8-5 against the Huskies.

The men’s team is in Edmonton Friday and Saturday (Jan. 17 and 18) against the University of Alberta.
