LETHBRIDGE, AB – A group in Lethbridge wants to ensure everyone is able to stay warm this week.

GirlGang Kindness has been leaving scarves and other clothing items on a few downtown Lethbridge posts, encouraging anyone who needs them to take them.

“We know that it isn’t always easy finding access to some of the basics to make it through all of these cold spells, so we wanted to leave stuff out for those in need and almost act as a checkpoint for others if they wanted to add to the post as well,” says Co-Founder Jes Beck.

She is welcoming people to add any kind of warm clothing from bigger items like coats to smaller ones such as mittens or touques.

Environment Canada has placed all of Alberta under an extreme cold warning.

In Lethbridge Tuesday night, they are forecasting a low of minus-40 with the wind chill. The city has a high of minus-24 for Wednesday, but that does not include the wind chill.

As an alternative to placing clothing items on the downtown posts, Beck is also encouraging anyone wanting to help out to donate them to the Lethbridge Shelter & Resource Centre or the Streets Alive Mission.
