Community Foundation opens grant applications

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Applications are open for the Community Foundation of Lethbridge and Southwestern Alberta’s grants from various funds.

Grants are available from the Community Priorities Fund, the Henry S. Varley Fund for Rural Life, and the Youth in Action Grants Program.

The Community Priorities is the CF’s largest granting program. Through two annual calls for applications, the fund distributes over $400,000 every year to charities and other qualified individuals or groups across southwestern Alberta. Applications are due by 4:00 p.m. on Monday, March 16, 2020.

The Henry S. Varley Fund for Rural Life supports projects from community organizations that are committed to maintaining a high quality of life in rural southwestern Alberta. Applications are due by 4:00 p.m. on Monday, March 16, 2020.

The goal of the Youth in Action Grants Program is to empower youth by encouraging them to work together on projects that will positively impact their community.

Projects submitted for the grant have to be led and organized by groups of youth or an individual up to the age of 25, that is partnering or collaborating with a charity, municipality or school. Applications are due by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, February 28, 2020.

The Community Foundation is hosting an information session on the grants on Wednesday, February 12 at 10:30 a.m. at its Lethbridge office. The session is free, but space is limited. Anyone interested in attending is asked to register by emailing grants@cflsa.ca.

Applications have to be a qualified donee under the Canada Revenue Agency or apply in partnership with one, and all applications have to be submitted online through cflsa.fluidreview.com.
