Search for missing southern Alberta teen leads to drug & stolen vehicle charges

TABER, AB – Taber Police Service have arrested a 15-year-old girl who officers were originally looking for for a different reason.

Medicine Hat Police phoned the police station in Taber on Thursday, January 16, requesting help in finding a teenager who was reported missing.

Police in Taber found the youth and arrested both her and a man, seizing 74 grams of cocaine, 24 grams of cannabis, and one gram of carfentanil.

β€œIt was determined that they were also in possession of a stolen vehicle and other stolen property,” reads a media release from Taber Police Service.

The 15-year-old, who cannot be named due to her age, was released on a promise to appear in court at a later date regarding numerous drug offenses.

The man from Medicine Hat is in custody. As his charges have yet to be officially sworn in, his name is not being released at this time either.

Officials with Taber Police Service were not available for additional comments.
