Study: Over half of Lethbridge businesses dissatisfied with internet services
LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge Chamber of Commerce says the city is falling behind when it comes to internet services, which could put the community at a disadvantage.
They recently completed a study called the “State of Internet Service for Lethbridge Businesses”, where they polled 64 of their member businesses. The report was presented to Lethbridge City Council on Monday, January 20.
While members of city council were not happy about the relatively small sample size, the Chamber’s Executive Officer Cyndi Vos says it was meant to give a “flavour” for what the business community feels.
The CRTC has set a minimum standard for download speeds of at least 50 Mbps (Megabits per second) and 10 Mbps for uploads. The commission expects 90% of Canadian homes and businesses to reach this standard by the end of 2021.
