TABER, AB – The Town of Taber has announced that it is moving forward with a land purchase to accommodate the local chamber of commerce.

They have acquired 1.3 acres of land located at 5431 47 Ave.

“It is important to our Council to continue to support our local businesses, so we are proud to be able to partner with the Taber Chamber to do just that,” said Mayor Andrew Prokop. “We know that a new space will help them expand their capacity as they continue to foster a strong business community in Taber.”

According to a media release from the municipality, the new office will allow the chamber to be more visible as it will be constructed along Highway 3.

It will also give the organization a more modern space with additional tenants “that highlights the Town as a progressive and engaged community to set up a business.”

“This is going to be an exciting future for the Taber & District Chamber of Commerce,” said Chamber President Joanne Sorensen, “with a new location nearer to the core of our businesses and visible from Highway 3, we will be able to provide even more services for our members and to help continue to promote and foster Taber as a great place to visit and grow a business.”

The Taber & District Chamber of Commerce will bear all the costs of construction for their new building.

The exact date for when construction will begin will be announced at a later time.
