PICTURE BUTTE, AB – Emergency crews were called out to a two-vehicle collision east of Picture Butte and north of Coaldale Monday evening.

Picture Butte Fire Chief Frank West says it occurred at approximately 6:50 pm at the intersection of Highway 845 and Township Road 110.

Alberta RCMP Constable Deanna Fontaine adds that the tandem truck carrying grain, driven by a 73-year-old man from Lethbridge, was heading south on the highway and was attempting to turn left onto Township Road 110.

This resulted in a head-on collision with a car.

The car needed to be cut open to get the driver out.

The driver and lone occupant of the car, a 23-year-old man from Turin, was taken to hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and is in stable condition.

The scene was cleared at approximately 9:00 pm.

The driver of the grain truck was issued a ticket for making an unsafe left turn.

RCMP is investigating the collision.
