U of L and Lethbridge College Weekend Sports Preview: Jan. 31-Feb. 2, 2020

LETHBRIDGE, AB – It’s a bit of a lighter weekend for the Lethbridge College Kodiaks, but certainly a busy one for the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns.

Here’s a brief preview of this weekend’s action.

LETHBRIDGE COLLEGE KODIAKS

On the hardwood last night, the women and men’s basketball teams faced SAIT, while the volleyball clubs hosted Ambrose University.

The men’s basketball team suffered its first regular season loss, falling 90-69 to the Trojans. The women’s team, meanwhile, defeated SAIT in overtime. The final score was 65-60.

The men and women’s basketball teams visit St. Mary’s University on Thursday, February 6.

The men’s volleyball team beat Ambrose University 3-0 (25-20, 25-21, 25-21) while the women’s team lost 3-0 (25-22, 25-21, 25-23).

Both volleyball clubs are on the road in rematches against Ambrose University tonight (Jan. 31). The women play at 6:00 p.m., with the men’s team on the court at 8:00 p.m.

U OF L PRONGHORNS

Both the men and women’s basketball teams are in Edmonton this weekend, up against MacEwan University. The women’s team plays tonight (Jan. 31) at 6:00 p.m. with the men at 8:00 p.m.

Tomorrow night (Feb. 1), the women play at 5:00 and the men at 7:00 p.m.

The men’s hockey team will try to snap an eight-game losing streak. They host the UBC Thunderbirds tonight at 7:00 p.m. and tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 p.m.

The women’s team went .500 last weekend. They’re in Vancouver against UBC tonight at 7:00 p.m. and face the Thunderbirds at 3:00 p.m. tomorrow.

The women’s rugby team is also in Vancouver, for the Canada West 7’s Series Tournament being hosted by UBC. The Pronghorns face Trinity Western University at 11:18 a.m. tomorrow (Feb. 1), the University of the Fraser Valley at 1:40 p.m. and the University of Alberta Pandas at 3:14 p.m. PST.

Sunday marks the semi-final and placement games.

The track and field team is at the Bison Classic in Winnipeg, hosted by the University of Manitoba. The event runs today (Jan. 31) and tomorrow.

The swimming team is in Regina for the Colleges Cup Prairies today, January 31.

The men and women’s curling teams are at the Canada West Championships in Edmonton.

The men’s team faces the University of Alberta at 2:00 p.m. today and Brandon University at 7:00 p.m. Tomorrow, they’ve got meetings with the University of Regina at 11:00 a.m. and the University of Victoria at 4:00 p.m.

The women’s curling team faces the University of Alberta Pandas at 2:00 p.m. this afternoon and Brandon University at 7:00 p.m. followed by matchups with the University of Regina tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. and the University of Victoria at 4:00 p.m.
