LETHBRIDGE, AB – Lethbridge Police are investigating a report that two dogs died this weekend after being poisoned.

On February 2, the owner of two large breed dogs told LPS that the animals had been poisoned in their yard along the 400 block of 28 Street South, sometime during the night.

It was reported that in the morning on Sunday, February 2, the dogs began howling and acting strangely before collapsing. Police say the animals were taken to a local vet and later passed away.

According to LPS, they seized suspicious food from the backyard of the home.

“All members of the public, particularly those who live in the area, are advised to be extra vigilant if they have young children or pets,” read a release from the LPS.

“Watch out for any strange items in yards or common areas that dogs, cats or children could ingest.”

Anyone with more information or who has experienced a similar case is asked to contact Lethbridge Police at (403) 328-4444 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.p3tips.com.

LPS say at this time, no further details or information is available for release as the investigation continues.
