Cardston motel closed for cockroach infestation, no smoke alarms, other infractions

CARDSTON, AB – Alberta Health Services has issued a notice to The Outpost Motel at 36 8 Ave West in Cardston.

An inspection was done on January 28, resulting in five infractions against the business.

  • No operational smoke alarms
  • Cockroach infestation around Unit 203
  • Broken or missing door and window locks on numerous units
  • Moldy wet carpet in Unit 211
  • No emergency egress in Unit 216

The inspection report states that these conditions may be injurious or dangerous to the public’s health.

All occupants have been ordered to vacate the premises on or before February 3, 2020.

Owners Jason and Yolanda Toone must “immediately undertake and diligently pursue the completion” of work to fix all of the above issues.

The Outpost Motel will remain closed until another inspection can be done and that the inspection finds that all five infractions have been resolved.
