Minnesota Wild acquires Hurricanes’ Calen Addison in NHL trade

Feb 11, 2020 | 3:26 PM

LETHBRIDGE, AB – If Calen Addison gets the official call up to the NHL, he would be joining the Minnesota Wild, not the Pittsburgh Penguins.

He was initially signed by Pittsburgh in April 2019 to a three-year, entry-level contract but has continued to play with the WHL’s Lethbridge Hurricanes.

The Penguins have traded Addison, forward Alex Galchenyuk, and a first-round conditional draft pick in 2020 in exchange for forward Jason Zucker.

Addison, a 19-year-old defenseman originally from Brandon, Manitoba, has played the last five seasons with the Hurricanes.

He finished the 2018-2019 season with a total of 65 points (11G-54A) in 67 games.

Addison and teammate Dylan Cozens were part of Team Canada’s gold medal victory at the 2020 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships.
