Children asked to name the next crop of Albertan police dogs

INNISFAIL, AB – 13 German Shepherd puppies are looking to begin training to become K-9 officers, but first, they need names.

They were recently born at the Police Dog Service Training Centre in Innisfail, A.B.

RCMP is asking for people aged four-to-14 to submit names for the puppies.

“The 13 children whose names are selected will each receive a laminated 8×10-inch photo of the pup they named, a plush dog named Justice and an RCMP water bottle,” reads a media release from RCMP.

• The name must begin with the letter “N”
• Names cannot be longer than nine letters
• Names must be one or two syllables
• Contestants must live in Canada
• Contestants must be between the ages of four and 14
• Only one entry per child will be eligible
• Entries must be received by March 25, 2020

The contest winners and the winning names will be announced on Wednesday, April 29, 2020, on the RCMP website and social media.

For those mailing in their submission, it must include the child’s name, address, phone number, and a suggested name for a puppy.
