LETHBRIDGE, AB – Over $352,000 was raised during Thursday’s Care from the Heart Radio-a-thon.

The event had six local radio stations broadcast live from the Chinook Regional Hospital (CRH) in Lethbridge, in an effort to collect funds for the CRH Foundation.

The original goal was set at $250,000 but that was reached early in the day, so organizers decided to boost the event’s fundraising goal to $350,000.

Money raised will go towards the redevelopment and renovations of the mental health area at the Lethbridge hospital.

“We are once again thankful for the outstanding support of our community. Because of this support, we can continue to ensure that the best of care is available at the Chinook Reginal Hospital,” said Jason VandenHoek, Executive Director of the CRH Foundation.

One of the big surprises of the event came from Costco Wholesale Lethbridge, who added an extra $100,000 to their donation – for a grand total donation of $189,740.

Membership Supervisor Bryan Storey said, “because we exceeded our fundraising goal and saw the biggest increase in funds raised of all stores in Western Canada, Costco Lethbridge was awarded an additional $100,00 by Costco Canada to support the Chinook Regional Hospital Foundation.”

On Wednesday, a day before the event, Balog Auction hosted its charity auction and raised $67,200 for the cause. For more on the CRH Foundation, visit crhfoundation.ca.
