Lethbridge locals competing in Curling Championships this weekend

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Two local curlers, Cody Smith and Krista Shortridge will be competing in the Provincial Mixed Doubles Curling Championships this weekend.

The hometown curlers qualified for the Championships during a qualifier months ago and Cody has never competed with Krista before that competition, but it looks like they’re a good pair.

This weekend, 24 teams will take the ice in the pursuit of gold. Cody and Krista believe they have an advantage since it’s being held on home ice.

From Friday, February 2, to Monday, February 24, the tournament takes place at the ATB Ice Centre and in the Lethbridge Curling Club.

Smith is feeling pretty good after coming off of the win with Krista and now with the tournament approaching, the team has been putting in work to prepare for the tournament, but he knows the competition is fierce.

“I know a lot of guys from the men’s provincials are going to be here, a lot of ladies from the ladies provincials will be here as well, so it’s going to be a tough one, that’s for sure.”
