Hurricanes whip Moose Jaw Warriors 8-2

LETHBRIDGE, AB — The Hurricanes went into Friday (Feb 21) night’s game, after a 6-3 loss to the Spokane Chiefs on Wednesday, looking to get things rolling before the playoffs kick off in a couple weeks.

The first period kicked off with Warriors’ center Calder Anderson scoring just two minutes into the game.

Just two minutes later, the Canes’ Brett Davis popped in a goal to tie the game.

The scoring continued to roll, as five minutes after that, the Warriors responded with Martin Lang netting his 13th goal of the year and the Warriors second on the night.

With just over six minutes left in the period, Dino Kambeitz scored his 15th of the season, to tie the game at two apiece.

Six minutes into the second frame, the Canes go on the attack when Danila Pavilko scores the first goal of the period assisted by Kambeitz and Thacker.

Ten minutes later the Canes’ start an onslaught, scoring three goals in the span of three minutes.

The first by Brett Davis, second by Zack Stringer, and the third by Oliver Okuliar, leading the Hurricanes into the final period with a 6-2 lead.

In the final 20-minutes, the Hurricanes’ Brett Davis scored six minutes in for his third of the game, we know what that means, yes Davis gets a “Hat Trick” and his 23rd goal on the season!

With the period winding down, Jett Jones scores a powerplay goal with just over two minutes left in the game and pushes the lead to six.

The Hurricanes impressive showing might be exactly what they need moving forward with an 8-2 win, giving them 77-points and leaving the team sitting at 35-15-2-5 in the standings.

The team’s next game is next Friday, February 28, when they host the Central Division leading Edmonton Oil Kings.
