U of L and Lethbridge College Weekend Sports Preview: Feb. 21-23, 2020

LETHBRIDGE, AB – There’s plenty of sports action from Lethbridge College and the University of Lethbridge this weekend. Here’s a preview of what’s going on.

LETHBRIDGE COLLEGE KODIAKS

The school’s volleyball teams cap off their regular season with matchups against Briercrest College.

The women’s team is on home court tonight (Feb. 21) at 6:00 p.m., with the men playing at 8. Tomorrow, the women face Briercrest at 1:00 p.m. in Lethbridge and the men are in action at 3.

The men’s team is tied for first place in the south division of the ACAC as they prepare for the post-season. The women’s team sits in fifth place, having won their last four games.

On the basketball end of things, both the men and women’s teams are on the road against Briercrest. The women’s team hopes to clinch a playoff spot, while the men already have their spot in the post-season confirmed, sitting in first place in the south division.

The women play Briercrest tonight at 6:00 p.m. and tomorrow at 1:00 p.m., while the men play this evening at 8:00 p.m. and tomorrow afternoon at 3:00 p.m.

U OF L PRONGHORNS

The men’s basketball team faces the Alberta Golden Bears for the fourth straight year in the post-season. The team’s in Edmonton facing the third-ranked Golden Bears in Canada West quarter-final action. The matchup takes place tomorrow (Feb. 22) at 2:00 p.m.

The winner will move on to the semi-finals to face the victor in the Manitoba-Victoria quarter-final on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.

The track and field team competes in the Canada West Championships in Saskatoon today (Feb. 21) and tomorrow. 29 athletes from the U of L will take part following an eight-medal performance from the team at the 2019 Canada West Championships.

After a few weeks off, the swimming team is in Victoria for the U SPORTS Championships. The event is hosted by the University of Victoria on Vancouver Island and runs through Saturday (Feb. 22) evening.
