Adaptive Technology – bracing for man, or man’s best friend

They’re a big part of our lives – offering companionship and unconditional love. Now, your pet has access to the same assistance you have, if you were injured.

Adaptive Technologies is proud to offer a new service, pet bracing.

“Dog’s can injure their knees just like humans and that can lead to a lot of pain and the inability to go on long walks or play with their other fur friends,” says Ryan Cochrane, and surgery can be expensive, with the rate of re-injury quite high.”

Adaptive Technologies wants to educate Lethbridge and area pet owners about another option that is a bit less financially draining.

“The braces are made in house and take about two weeks to build. They’re built from a cast of your pet’s injured leg,” says Emilie Soper.

The success rate, particularly for dog knee braces, are quite good and for the most part they take to the brace quite well and are able run, play and walk without pain.

According to Koji Duncan, “We have fit quite a few dogs with knee braces in the past few months and they’ve all had great success with them so far. The dogs usually only wear the brace for high impact activities and can go without it if they’re not involved in any high impact activities.”

“Not only is it a treat for us to have the dogs come in, but our clients enjoy it as well. It’s definitely the highlight of my day when they come in,” laughs Soper.

The most common brace that Adaptive offers is for ACL injuries and it usually has the highest success rate. To find out if bracing for your pet will help increase their quality of life, call 408.381.9501 to find out more.
