PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. — On Wednesday (Mar 4), the Hurricanes played their only game in Prince George, against a Cougar’s team that had lost their last five home games. It must have been a long bus ride the Canes’!

There was a lack-lustre first period. No goals and just four minor penalties, including a roughing penalty levied against Canes’ goalie Bryan Thomson, which was served by Chase Wheatcroft.

The opening minutes of the second frame produced the only goal of the period, courtesy of Mitchell Kohner for the Cougars. The remainder of the period was interspersed with minor penalties – three for Prince George and one for tripping was credited to the Canes’ Alex Cotton.

Although the Hurricanes lead shots on goal 26-13, Prince George was ahead 1-0 when the buzzer ended the middle period.

The final 20 minutes produced two minor goals and one final goal. The goal came 40-seconds before the buzzer, courtesy of the Cougars’ Vladislav Mkhalchuk, giving Prince George a 2-0 shut out, in spite of Lethbridge leading in shots on goal 37-20.

The Canes’ next game is Friday night, against the Blazers in Kamloops.
