LETHBRIDGE, AB – A bull rider from Kindersley, Saskatchewan can call himself the winner of the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Canada Monster Energy Tour’s South Country Co-op Showdown.

Dakota Buttar went a perfect 3-for-3 at the ENMAX Centre over the weekend, with competition going Friday (March 6) and Saturday.

Thanks to wins at the recent Touring Pro Division (Lloydminster, SK) and Monster Energy Tour in Calgary, Buttar was riding a 6-for-6 record and was ranked as the number-one rider in Canada entering the Lethbridge event.

In round one on Friday, Buttar recorded his seventh straight 8-second effort while conquering Big Tymer (Vold Rodeo) for 84.5 points.

In the second round Saturday, Buttar made it to the top of the leaderboard when he covered re-ride draw Kubota’s Big Orange Tractor (Wild Hoggs Bucking Bulls) for a score of 87.5 points.

Buttar’s impressive performance gave him the first pick in the championship round bull draft. The 27-year-old chose two-time PBR World Finals bucker Tykro Pound Sand (Wild Hoggs/Corey Chmelnyk).

In January, the bovine athlete helped propel Buttar to the season-launch Monster Energy Tour event win in Calgary. Buttar amazed the crowd, scoring 86 points.

In addition to the weekend victory, Buttar competed in Friday evening’s 5/5 Bucking Battle and was the sole rider to be flawless in the main event. He’s now a perfect 10-for-10 in 2020 Canadian Competition.

For his efforts, the Saskatchewan rider earned 30 world points. He now sits in front of Canada’s number-two ranked rider, Brock Radford, by 100.5 points.

Radford ended up placing second at the weekend showdown, with Zane Lambert placing third.

Last year’s Lethbridge winner Jared Parsonage finished in fourth place, with Aaron Roy rounding out the top five. Parsonage also set the highest score of the event, with 89.5 points in the championship round.

The final standings for the weekend showdown are as follows:
