Mar 15, 2020 | 8:12 PM

BLOOD RESERVE, AB. — Following the orders of Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Deena Hinshaw, all Daycares operated under Blood Tribe Family and Community Support Services have been closed immediately (Sunday, March 15).

The Department is working to notify all parents and if anyone has questions, they are encouraged to call their day care provider or supervisor.

Also, Kainai Board of Education (KBE) Superintendent, Cameron Shade, has also ordered the closure of all Blood Reserve schools, effective immediately. The following is a statement from the Superintendent,

“Effectively immediately ALL Kainai Board of Education schools and provincial schools will be closed indefinitely. We are following the directive from Alberta Education Minister Adriana LaGrange and Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw. The safety of our students and staff remains our top priority. KBE school staff and district office staff will continue their day-to-day operations to ensure the safety of our school facilities.

In terms of student progression, KBE will provide a final mark to all students regardless and students will progress to their next grade level next year. However, provincial assessments, such as provincial achievement tests will be cancelled. Diploma exams essential for post-secondary acceptance will continue.”

KBE will communicate a move forward plan with parents/guardians. Please refer to KBE Facebook and KBE website for updates.
