Public feedback invited on proposed coal mine near Blairmore

BLAIRMORE, AB – The public commenting period has opened for the Grassy Mountain Coal Project.

The project, by Benga Mining Limited, would be located in the Crowsnest Pass approximately seven kilometers north of Blairmore.

The company plans to operate an open-pit metallurgical coal mine that would produce up to 4.5-million tonnes of steel-making coal per year over its expected lifespan of 25 years.

Comments are invited specifically on the contents of Addendum 11, which can be accessed online here.

Submissions can be emailed to IAAC.GrassyMountain.AEIC@canada.ca by no later than May 4, 2020.
