49 new COVID-19 cases in Alberta; South Health Zone now has 5
EDMONTON, AB — Alberta Health services has confirmed an additional 49-cases of COVID-19 in the province, taking the total to 195.
There are now 10 people hospitalized because of the illness and five of those are in intensive care, however, no new deaths have been reported.
The majority of the new cases are in Calgary and Edmonton area and there are now five cases registered in the the South Health Zone. Of those five cases, there are two adults in Medicine Hat, a young woman between the ages of 15 and 19 in the M-D of Taber, one adult in south Lethbridge and another adult in West Lethbridge.
During her afternoon update, Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Deen Hinshaw, repeated a concern about those who attend a dental conference in Vancouver. The conference specifically encompassed dentists from western Canada and is the common denominator in eleven community transmission cases in the province. Hinshaw notes that there are likely more cases related to this conference and they are trying to track down the individuals.
