LETHBRIDGE, AB – The University of Lethbridge is boosting its efforts to help flatten the COVID-19 curve.

In a statement, the institution is encouraging residence students to vacate the residences and return to their homes if possible. The U of L stated that residences will remain open and students who cannot return home, or feel it is safer to stay on campus, can continue to do so.

“Please abide by social distancing measures,” the statement read.

For students who are not able to return home beyond April 20, the U of L said arrangements can be made to stay in their residences.

HOUSING AND DINING PLAN FEES

The school said housing and dining fees will be refunded for students who elect to move out of residence before March 31.

Campus housing and dining plan contracts will be cancelled with housing and dining plan base dollar fees pro-rated to the date a student’s room key is received in Housing Services.

The U of L stated that if a student has already moved out, and still has their key, their asked to notify Housing at housing@uleth.ca of their departure. That notice is needed to initiate a student’s refund.

Refunds will be pro-rated from the date a student has informed the office of their departure. Additionally, no penalties will be applied to any refunds or transfers.

All refunds will be credited to student accounts.

Flex dollars will roll over to Bridgebucks in May. No penalties will be applied to any refunds or transfers.

It is important to note that once a residence contract has been cancelled, a student may not return to residence under the same contract.

URBAN MARKET STAYS OPEN

For students who plan to remain on campus, the Urban Market will be open for service Monday to Sunday, 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

“The University will continue to support students in our residences and will keep you informed if there are new developments regarding COVID-19.”
