U of L residence buildings directed to close

LETHBRIDGE, AB – All residence buildings at the University of Lethbridge have been directed to close.

According to a notice from the U of L, all 12-month and summer contracts are cancelled, effective immediately.

The school said all residents are required to follow these timelines:

-Students living in the Siksika and Tsuutina Townhomes and Residence Village will be required to vacate by 4:00 p.m. on Monday, March 23.

-Students living in University Hall, Kainai House, Piikani House and Mt. Blakiston House will be required to vacate by 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24.

International students and those without safe alternative housing options my be permitted to stay. However, they will have to notify Housing Services immediately at housing@uleth.ca and receive permission to stay.

The U of L noted there will be limited capacity available and the school will not be offering services to anyone who stays in the residence buildings.

Anyone who receives permission to stay beyond March 24 will have to follow a new policy of social distancing.

The U of L said there will be a zero-tolerance approach to enforcing this policy and people who do not adhere to the policy will be removed from the campus.
