Holy Spirit School Division warns of improper notice regarding classes

Mar 23, 2020 | 8:24 AM

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Holy Spirit Catholic School Division is advising of some false advertising that’s been seen online.

The message claims to be from the Alberta Government twitter page (@YourAlberta) and states classes in all K-12 schools will resume.

“Students are to take final exams and diplomas as usual”, it says.

The alleged tweet is ‘signed’ by Alberta Premier Jason Kenney’s twitter account.

Communications coordinator with Holy Spirit, Anisha Gatner, said schools remain closed and online classes begin for all of Holy Spirit’s high school students today (March 23).

She noted that all other grades will begin online instruction this Wednesday, March 25.

Gatner said the image below was received by one of the principals within the Holy Spirit system.

Parents and students are asked to check their email/text/SchoolMessenger App for any messages from their school. If contact information needs to be updated, learners are asked to phone or email their school directly to provide that updated information.

On Sunday (March 22), the provincial government posted about “scammers posting misinformation” on the web using what appears to be accounts under the YourAlberta banner.
