Apr 2, 2020 | 9:47 AM

CLARESHOLM, AB – The Town of Claresholm is warning of a scam email in the community.

The email states that the Town is undergoing an “annual bank reconciliation audit” and reviewing “the company outstanding balances”.

It asks the receiver to send a list of open invoices and outstanding payments and to hold on to any payment “to avoid credit error” as a result of the alleged bank audit.

The email is signed by the supposed ‘Head of Accounting’ for the Town of Claresholm.

The town addressed the issue on Facebook, stating that the email was in fact illegitimate. They said that if anyone receives an email like this, it’s important to note the address it’s sent from.

Any emails from the town would end in the address @claresholm.ca. The spam message was sent under the info@spc-gmh.org.
