Loaded handgun, drugs, cash seized in suspected drug trafficking in Lethbridge

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Three people have been arrested in connection to suspected drug trafficking in Lethbridge while several items have been confiscated.

In late March, LPS’ Crime Suppression Team investigated activities at neighbouring homes on the 1300 block of 15 Ave North.

Search warrants were executed on April 2.

At the first home, police located a 9 mm handgun, 232 grams of cocaine, 561 grams of methamphetamine, and nearly $20,000 in cash. The street value of the cocaine is estimated at $23,200 and the meth at $56,070.

At the second home, police seized a forged/falsified Canadian passport, multiple ID documents, and a stolen car insurance document.The three who were charged is as follows:

Liban Mohamed Hassan, 34, of Lethbridge. He was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in court April 9

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (x2)
  • Possess of a prohibited firearm contrary to order
  • Careless storage of a firearm
  • Knowingly possessing an unauthorized firearm
  • Possession of a loaded prohibited firearm
  • Possession of a firearm obtained by the commission of an offence
  • Possession of the proceeds of crime over $5000

Yusuf Abdisamad, 34, of Lethbridge. He is in custody awaiting a Judicial Interim Release hearing

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (x2)
  • Careless storage of a firearm
  • Knowingly possessing an unauthorized firearm
  • Possession of a loaded prohibited firearm
  • Possession of a firearm obtained by the commission of an offence
  • Possession of the proceeds of crime over $5000

Betty Deanne Hancock, 48, of Lethbridge. She was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on July 16.

  • Possession of identity documents (x2)
  • Possession of stolen property under $5000
