Alberta records its lowest number of new COVID-19 cases in weeks

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Government of Alberta has released its latest set of numbers related to COVID-19.

As of Tuesday, April 7, a total of 1,373 Albertans have tested positive for the virus. This marks an increase of just 25 from Monday’s report, one of the lowest single-day increases in infections.

Another two deaths were confirmed in the Calgary Health Zone, meaning 26 Albertans have died as a result of COVID-19.

The breakdown by provincial health zones is as follows:

  • Calgary zone – 835 cases (17 deaths, 2 new)
    • 26,847 tests
  • Edmonton zone – 358 cases (four deaths)
    • 22,288 tests
  • North zone – 90 cases (four deaths)
    • 5,507 tests
  • Central zone – 66 cases (one death)
    • 6,214 tests
  • South zone – 22 cases
    • 3,263 tests
  • Unknown – two cases
    • 1,146 tests

The total number of infections in the south zone are unchanged from Monday.

  • Medicine Hat 10 cases, four patients recovered
  • Lethbridge – seven cases, five patients recovered
  • M.D. of Taber – two cases
  • County of Forty Mile – two cases
  • Cypress County – one case
