Cozens awarded Canadian Tire South Top Scorer award

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Despite the cancellation of the 2019-2020 season due to COVID-19, it was a solid campaign for Dylan Cozens.

The Lethbridge Hurricanes forward has been named the Canadian Tire South Top Scorer Award winner for the season.

Cozens finished with 85 points in only 51 games with the ‘Canes. He set new career highs in points and goals with 38. His strong shooting placed him first in team goal scoring.

He finished the campaign with 25 power play points (8 goals, 17 assists) and a team-high six game winners, as well as four short-handed goals.

Cozens was drafted in the first round by the NHL’s Buffalo Sabres last summer, before being reassigned to Lethbridge early in the WHL season. He finished tied for fifth in the Western Hockey League in goals with 38, seventh in total points (85) and finished at the top of the league in short-handed goals.

Over the course of his WHL career, Cozens has played in 179 regular season games, where he’s totalled 223 points with the Lethbridge club (95 goals and 128 assists). He’s also picked up 88 penalty minutes.

The Whitehorse, Yukon skater is 17th all-time in Hurricanes franchise goals, 19th all-time in franchise assists and 18th all-time in franchise points.

The winner of this award for the 2018-2019 season was Nick Henry, with 94 points.

Cozens was also named the winner of this year’s 106.7 ROCK Three Star Award. Jake Elmer earned the award for the 2018-2019 season.
